Wagyu Emulsified Tallow Balm
Everything about tallow
What is whipped tallow balm?
Whipped tallow balm is a skin moisturizer made from rendered beef fat — specifically suet, the dense fat around the kidneys. We whip it until it's light and spreadable. It's rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, and the fatty acid profile closely mirrors human sebum, which makes it unusually well-absorbed.
Is tallow good for your face, or for eczema-prone skin?
Yes to both. Tallow is one of the oldest face moisturizers in human history, and because its fatty acid profile is so similar to your skin's natural oils, it absorbs without leaving a greasy film. Many people with eczema-prone, dry-patch, or generally sensitive skin find it noticeably calmer than fragranced lotions — though everyone's skin is different, so start with a small amount and see how yours responds.
What's the difference between tallow and regular lotion?
Most commercial lotions are water-based emulsions that rely on synthetic emulsifiers and preservatives to stay shelf-stable. Tallow balm contains no water — it's pure fat, which means no preservatives are needed and nothing dilutes the active ingredients. The tradeoff is that tallow is richer; you use less of it.
Is your tallow grass-fed?
Yes. We source suet from grass-fed, grass-finished cattle. Grass-fed tallow has a higher concentration of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and fat-soluble vitamins than grain-fed, which is why sourcing matters.
How do I use tallow balm?
Warm a small amount between your fingertips until it melts, then press it into clean skin. It works best on slightly damp skin — right after washing your hands or stepping out of the shower. A pea-sized amount covers your whole face; a quarter-sized amount handles both legs.
Does tallow balm smell like beef?
No — not if it's rendered properly. Our tallow is slow-rendered from fresh suet, then filtered until the smell is neutral to slightly milky. Our scented balms have no detectable animal smell at all. The unscented formula has a very faint, clean fat smell on first application that disappears as it absorbs.
What's the difference between whipped and emulsified tallow?
Whipped tallow is 100% fat — rendered tallow whipped with a small amount of other nourishing oils. It's rich, deeply moisturizing, and absorbed slowly. Emulsified tallow blends tallow with water (and a natural emulsifier), giving it a lighter, lotion-like texture that sinks in faster with no greasy finish. Dry or very sensitive skin tends to love the whipped; normal-to-combination skin often prefers the emulsified.
Is tallow balm safe during pregnancy?
Our balms contain no essential oils that are contraindicated during pregnancy — no clary sage, no rosemary, no camphor. The fragrance-free and unscented formulas are the most commonly chosen during pregnancy. As with any new skincare product, check with your provider if you have specific concerns.
