Most shampoo bars are one of two things: a compressed version of liquid shampoo, or a cold-process soap — which is too alkaline for hair and will wreck it over time. Ours are neither.
We use a surfactant base actually formulated for hair — with tallow, butters, and conditioning agents built into the bar. No water-padding. No preservatives needed to keep water from going rancid. Just concentrated, effective ingredients that travel anywhere without TSA drama.
The tallow is the part most brands skip. It contributes slip, conditioning, and a fatty acid profile that synthetic surfactant bases are missing. Your scalp notices.
The bar is the daily habit; the rest of the line handles what a bar alone doesn't. The Himalayan scalp scrub is a pre-wash step, not a replacement for the bar — it physically lifts product buildup and dead skin before shampooing, which matters more if you use styling product regularly. Are shampoo bars safe for a sensitive or eczema-prone scalp?
Yes — reach for the Essential Oils line, which drops synthetic fragrance (the most common scalp irritant) and leans on tallow's skin-barrier fatty acids to soothe a dry, flaky, or eczema-prone scalp instead of stripping it. Every line is sulfate-free, so nothing harsh is scrubbing an already-reactive scalp. If your scalp is actively broken or weeping, patch-test behind the ear first and hold off until it's calmed down.
What's the transition period I keep hearing about?
Your hair may feel waxy or heavy for 1–2 weeks while it adjusts from silicone-coated shampoo to a clean formula. This is normal and temporary. An apple cider vinegar rinse — 1 tablespoon in a cup of water, poured over after washing — speeds things up if you're impatient.
Do the bars work on color-treated hair?
Yes. The formula is sulfate-free, which is the key thing for color safety. No SLS stripping your investment down the drain.
How do I store a shampoo bar so it lasts?
Keep it out of standing water. Store on a draining soap dish or on a shelf away from the shower stream. Between uses, dry it off with a cloth. A well-stored bar lasts 30–40 washes — significantly longer than a liquid bottle at the same price point.
Can I use the conditioner bar after any shampoo?
Any shampoo, not just ours. Apply to wet hair after washing, work through mid-lengths and ends, leave 30 seconds, rinse. It works as a standalone conditioner regardless of what you washed with.
